The "well-organised lobby group Polyamory Action Lobby" discussed in the second article has their website here: http://polyaction.nfshost.com/home The sole "Action" item it has is a change.org petition to pressure the Australian House of Representatives to permit marriage for polyamorous relationships. That petition, which looks like it was started a little more than a month ago, has all of 39 signatures (their objective seems to be 100); the most recent was eleven hours ago, and the most recent before that four days ago. This is not the sort of thing of which viable political movements are made.

As far as I can tell, the most significant thing that ever happened involving PAL was its invocation by Australian Senator Cory Bernardi in Parliament, to attack the Green Party and its support for same-sex marriage on slippery-slope grounds: http://parlinfo.aph.gov.au/parlInfo/search/display/display.w3p;query=Id%3A%22chamber%2Fhansards%2Fbbf08272-5de4-436c-9325-d389def0cc1c%2F0260%22
