A.G. Holder provides framework for targeted killings of American citizens
Yesterday afternoon at Northwestern Law School, Attorney General Eric Holder defended the Obama administration's policy and framework for trageted killings of American citizens abroad; a framework that the ACLU called "chillingly broad."
How should we analyze this in light of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition? Comments are open.

It seems to me that, as always, there is the concern now, and there is the concern in the future. This president and the previous have both expanded, without consequence and very little question, the powers of the executive. The current administration has engaged in wars without even an authorization of force (Libya) and has pushed for legislation to allow unlimited detention of American citizens, which I doubt would have been palatable if the previous administration had not done the same with enemy combatants.
What will the next president be able to do with these expanded military powers? And, although it may take a few more years, will we eventually reach the point where the military realizes that it runs things, and can appoint its own commander in chief, a la Rome?
